Three real environments. Three distinct execution challenges. One consistent outcome: clarity, alignment, and repeatable execution — through FREE GRID™ applied in practice.

FREE GRID™ in Practice

These examples show how FREE GRID™ translates from framework to execution inside real, complex environments. Each case study demonstrates a different pillar combination applied to a distinct organizational challenge.

01
Framework Build
Case Study A
Defining the Undefined

Context

J2 — Deputy Directorate for Strategy, Policy & Plans

Challenge

Execution was inconsistent because ownership and process were not repeatable — creating workflow drift and contributing to talent attrition.

What I Did

Built an operating model using SOPs + OKRs + a simple execution model to make work predictable, measurable, and easily adopted across teams.

"Let's implement this… we all need to operate at this level… can you present this to incoming SESs?"
Pillars applied: Governance · Rhythm · Integration · Durability
02
Cross-Office Alignment
Case Study B
The Right People, In the Same Room

Context

OUSD(I&S) | DIA | J2 — Cross-agency coordination environment

Challenge

Unclear ownership and fragmented processes created redundancy and slowed decision flow across organizations.

What I Did

Used SWOT + decision log + influence map to clarify decision pathways, make accountability visible, and align the stakeholders who actually move outcomes.

"We couldn't have done this without you… my influence map was sent to top generals across the DoD."
Pillars applied: Governance · Integration · Rhythm
03
Enterprise Integration
Case Study C
When the Right Hand Meets the Left

Context

Joint Force-Wide Integration — enterprise-scale organizational coordination

Challenge

At enterprise scale, offices operated in parallel; dependencies were invisible; coordination burden grew into more meetings and slower execution.

What I Did

Applied systems thinking to build a network/node influence map + process map that made handoffs, dependencies, and integration seams visible.

Faster decisions, fewer meetings, and a strengthened interagency community of interest built to last beyond any individual.
Pillars applied: Integration · Durability · Rhythm

These examples show how I work: I reduce ambiguity, align stakeholders, and build execution systems that hold under pressure.
